We invite you for a recap!

Three Take aways from the Global Food Summit at the Berlin Science Week 2021

Three topics, 14 speakers from three continents, 240 registered listeners. This was our Global Food Summit Event on November 5th for the Berlin Science Week. If you missed it - the three take aways are:
  • For an ecological transformation of our society, we need progress through technological innovation. For example recycling nutrients in a circular and not linear economy. But rules and regulations have to be aligned to this bioeconomic approach.
  • The Global South is spearheading new innovative ways in waste and water management. Climate change asks for new solutions and biotechnology adds new ways to obtain drinking water from polluted rivers. For example with constructed wetlands.
  • Europe is not prepared to meet the climate change in the area of food. Approvals of innovations via Novel Food regulations that would mitigate CO2 or water footprints take years, while other countries like the US or China are overtaking us.

We are extremely pleased with the contributions to the sociopolitical dialogue from a vast array of universities, research centers, politics and our audience: amongst others our key-note speaker Ralf Fücks, Founder of the Center for Liberal Modernity,  Prof. Dr. Birner from the German Council for Bioeconomy, the Peruvian Ambassador in Berlin, H.E. Elmer Schialer Salcedo.

A special thanks goes to our partner Deutsches Institut für Lebensmitteltechnik e.V. (DIL)
